Nyung Ne Retreat

Saturday, September 2 to Monday, September 4, 2000

DFF will hold a Nyung Ne retreat, which is a two-and-a-half-day Chenresig retreat, taking the Eight Mahayana Precepts each day. It will take place over the Labor Day weekend, beginning early in the morning (probably around 5 am) on Saturday, Sept. 2 and go until the morning of Monday, Sept. 4 (about 10 am).

To register, contact Charlotte at 206-282-4798, or by e-mail.

Nyung Ne is a two and one-half day purification retreat that focuses on Chenresig, the Buddha of Compassion. Before dawn on Saturday, retreatants take the Eight Mahayana Precepts, which are kept for one day. They take precepts again on Sunday and also fast and keep silent on that day. The break the fast on Monday, and the retreat ends that morning with a Tsog offering to the guru and the Triple Gem. Although it sounds difficult, the practice is extremely powerful, and the participants find that it inspires them and truly removes obstacles to their Dharma practice.
