Teachings with Ajahn Jitindriya:
"Suffering and the End of Suffering"

    August 31, 2000
    7:00pm-8:45pm

The Buddha often said that he teaches only two things -- suffering and the end of suffering -- a topic that all human beings are interested in. The depth and profundity of these matters are revealed to us more and more as we inquire into our experience and cultivate the spiritual path according to the Buddha's teachings. It gradually dawns on us that true freedom requires great effort. Fortunately, Truth itself impels and empowers us to keep going.

Born in Australia, Ajahn Jitindriya joined the community at Amaravati Monastery, England, in 1988, and subsequently took ordination as a nun in 1990 with Ajahn Sumedho as spiritual guide and preceptor. Sr. Jitindriya and Ven. Chodron met at Life as a Western Buddhist Nun, an educational program DFF sponsored in India in 1996. She presently lives at Abhayagiri Monastery in Mendicino, and is doing long retreat. We are very fortunate to have her join us at DFF.
