The Practices of the Great Scope
Building on the previous five sections, this course will cover the meditations of the Middle scope of the Lam Rim, and begin the meditations of the Great Scope. These analytic meditations help us work with negative, limiting emotions and help us develop the life-enriching qualities of compassion and wisdom. They are very practical and effective tools for transforming our minds.
We'll continue to introduce you to some of the visualization practices you will encounter in other DFF classes and we'll continue to develop a practice of calm abiding meditation.
Either Venerable Chodron or Jesse Fenton will teach Part 6 and this may vary from week to week depending on Venerable Chodron's schedule.
If you missed the first sections, you're welcome to jump in mid-course. If you'd like to catch up in that case, we recommend reading Open Heart Clear Mind by Thubten Chodron, available at Dharma Friendship Center or through your local bookstore.
In the traditional way of the Dharma, teachings are given freely. No one will ever be turned away for lack of funds. However, because DFF has considerable costs to cover, we suggest a donation of $10, or more if you wish, for each session. Please consider it an act of generosity on your part, to support the Dharma which is deeply valuable to you.
